Dr. Assistant Professor Ferhat Sadak, a faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design, has been accepted as a postdoctoral researcher at Sorbonne University under the 'Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS)' fund of France. Dr. Sadak's research focus at Sorbonne University will be in the field of micro medical robotics, with a particular focus on interactions between biological cells manipulated by objects at the microscale from the perspective of deep learning and automation.
Regarding the topic, Dr. Sadak stated that the deep learning method is commonly used for automation processes in medical robotics applications, and the visual servo control system, which he calls an invasive method, plays an important role in micro medical robotics applications. He also mentioned that the images obtained here are processed to control a robotic manipulator during a surgical procedure by monitoring surgical tools and tissue/cell pieces. In addition, he said that micro-scale deep learning-supported automation solutions will bring new perspectives in engineering to methods such as microinjection and in vitro fertilization, which are some of the active areas we are working on.
According to Times Higher Education's World University Rankings in 2022, Sorbonne University ranks among the top 100 universities in the world.
